Allegheny Conference Anchors Future in Downtown Pittsburgh with Lease Extension
Organization Commits to 16-Year Extension at 11 Stanwix Street
PITTSBURGH – February 9, 2026 – The Allegheny Conference on Community Development announced today that it has signed a 16.5-year lease extension at 11 Stanwix Street, reaffirming its long-term commitment to Downtown Pittsburgh. Anchoring its 21,933 s.f. headquarters in the Golden Triangle, the Conference is doubling down on its mission to foster a vibrant, competitive and inclusive regional core.
“A strong economic climate and a more competitive region result in an improved quality of life and uplifted communities,” said Stefani Pashman, CEO of the Allegheny Conference. “Our presence at 11 Stanwix is a physical manifestation of our commitment to the urban core. We aren’t just advocating for Downtown from afar; we are an active, permanent part of its fabric.”
The Conference proactively evaluated options for its lease, working with JLL to leverage favorable downtown market conditions and competitive negotiations with multiple property owners. The organization toured seven sites and negotiated with three finalists and ultimately decided to remain at 11 Stanwix.
“We are committed to the revitalization efforts of our urban core – and being at the center of the work. Downtown Pittsburgh continues to attract investment because public, private and philanthropic partners are aligning behind a long-term strategy to make the urban core cleaner, safer, more livable and more economically dynamic,” said Pashman. “Major commitments – like the Commonwealth’s multimillion-dollar funding to corporate and nonprofit coalitions – signal confidence in Downtown’s future and create momentum for new housing, public space improvements and business growth.”
This decision has minimal impact on the Conference’s budget but includes a significant tenant improvement allowance that will allow the organization to invest in its workforce. The Conference is committed to designing a workplace of the future that will also attract talent. The new lease allows for modernization of the space, improved amenities, and will avoid the costs and disruptions of moving, while also fostering a more vibrant and welcoming environment for employees and visitors.
“The Allegheny Conference is a storied institution that remains at the forefront of advancing our region’s economic interests and resurgence. The Conference’s long-term commitment to 11 Stanwix reinforces Downtown Pittsburgh’s importance as the economic hub for the entire region,” said Dan Adamski, Executive Managing Director of JLL Pittsburgh’s Tenant Representation Group. “This investment, in addition to the more than one billion dollars of previously announced projects in greater Downtown Pittsburgh, builds upon the undeniable momentum we are experiencing in 2026.”
The lease extension aligns with the Conference’s leadership role in a broad coalition focused on Downtown Pittsburgh’s reinvestment. This commitment to urban renewal goes beyond office space, focusing on large-scale project investments designed to enhance the daily experience of the city. Ongoing and future initiatives tied to this reinvestment strategy include:
- Public Art & Culture: Integrating creative installations to reflect the region’s identity.
- Green Space Expansion: Creating sustainable, inviting outdoor areas for workers and residents.
- Community Engagement: Activating the streets of the Golden Triangle to ensure it remains a 24/7 destination.
The Conference believes that as the region’s primary economic engine, a thriving Downtown is essential for the prosperity of the surrounding 10 counties. The decision to maintain its base at 11 Stanwix Street positions the Allegheny Conference at the intersection of commerce and community, driving the strategies that will define the Pittsburgh region’s next chapter.
