- Department of Health: 349 Nursing Homes have Completed Universal COVID-19 Testing, Others to Complete by July 24: The Pennsylvania Department of Health recognized nursing homes for reporting their COVID-19 facility information and 349 of the state’s 563 nursing homes for completing mandated universal testing. - Allegheny County Department of Health
- There are 507 past or present hospitalizations (+17). In the newest cases (tested June 29 through July 16), ages range from 1 month to 97 years with the median age being 34. All deaths to date are of individuals ranging in age from 23-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died.
- On Friday July 17, Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen announced a new order to stem the spread of the coronavirus in Allegheny County, following review of the state’s orders from July 15, 2020. The new order rescinds the July 8 order, and takes effect at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2020. Indoor dining is permitted at 25% capacity. - The Allegheny County Department of Health has revised recommendations for testing in order to meet demand. The following should be prioritized for testing:
- Patients with symptoms (fever, cough, etc.)
- Those who have had close contact with someone who has tested COVID-positive
- Healthcare workers and first responders with known exposure or who have traveled to high-risk areas
- Adults without symptoms with suspected exposure that cannot quarantine.

- Pittsburgh-based company to take over COVID-19 data collection from CDC: Hospitals across the country have now been told by the federal government to report information regarding COVID-19 hospitalizations and equipment to Pittsburgh-based TeleTracking Technologies Inc.
