    • 276 cases yesterday
    • 560 new cases today
    • 1687 total in PA in 48 counties
    • Exponential rise
    • Positive cases – 46% are ages 50 and older
    • 39% are in the 25-49 year age bracket
    • 16,441 have tested negative
    • 170 have been hospitalized in PA since March 6th (remains ~10% of positive cases)
    • 56 of total hospitalized have required ICU
    • 32 have needed ventilators
    • 46% are over 65 years old
    • 16 deaths in PA
    • 68% of deaths are over age 65
    • Distribution of supplies to hospitals, health systems professionals, counties, emergency responders:
    • 67,8630 N-95 masks
    • 207,600 procedural masks
    • 36,870 gowns as protective
    • 44,000 goggles and face protection devices
    • Continue to be looking for supplies
    • STAY HOME as much as possible to present spread
    • Efforts are critical so our health system has time to prepare
    • Wash hands for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer / do not touch face / clean surfaces frequently

Governor Wolf:

    • We do need equipment
    • Our hospitals are going to reach capacity bed / need ventilators and personal care equipment
    • PA legislature did $50 million funding infusion into our health care system
    • Thanked the federal government for support so far
    • We don’t know how bad surge will be / long haul / fighting a war
    • Need to support front line medical workers
    • Need beds for patients
    • Need to flatten the curve / continue to distance socially / do our part in the battle
    • We can thank medical professionals through our actions / staying home is thanking them
    • Virus can hide for 14 days / must act as if we all have it – that’s the only way to reduce burden on medical system
    • Let’s work together to save lives

Federal Coronavirus Update

The White House

  • POTUS is issuing a letter to the country’s governors on new social distancing guidelines based on geographic risk factors.  The letter states that new coronavirus testing capabilities would allow his administration to identify high-risk, medium risk and low-risk counties.  The new guidelines will help governors and other state policymakers decide on maintaining, increasing or relaxing social distancing and other mitigation measures they have put in place.
