Partnership & Outreach

The Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce is unique among other Chambers in our region because of its strong connection and working relationship with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry and the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). In fact, our Chamber hosted to the 2008 ACCE national convention.

The Chamber regularly conducts outreach initiatives (anchors down to outreach) that bring together regional and state public and private sector partners around public policy issues that affect our business climate competitiveness.

The Federal Advocacy Initiative

The Federal Advocacy Initiative is partnership between the 10 counties of southwestern Pennsylvania, represented by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) and our Chamber to identify and prioritize regional infrastructure projects that are vital to growing the regional economy. The partnership seeks project funding through the federal appropriations process, stimulus funding and transportation reauthorization bills. The partnership has been extremely successful at bringing federal dollars back to the region.

Other Outreach Initiatives

CompetePA – A coalition of businesses and organizations representing more than half the private sector employment in Pennsylvania that wants to see the Commonwealth compete successfully for new jobs and investment. The Chamber plays a leadership role in its initiatives, which are currently focused on creating a more competitive business tax climate.

Regional Advocacy Council – A voluntary alliance of approximately 30 chambers of commerce and business service organizations from across all ten counties of southwestern Pennsylvania with a mission to influence legislators and regulators at all levels of government on issues that are important to the common interest of the region’s business community.

First Friday – A professional forum for the government and public affairs representatives from the member organizations of the Allegheny Conference. The First Friday group meets monthly with invited elected officials from the local, state and federal levels of government to discuss legislative issues that are important to the region’s business community.

Legislative Receptions – Hosted several times throughout the year by the Chamber to recognize the achievements and efforts of our local, state and federal elected officials that make the Pittsburgh region a more competitive place to do business.
