Public Policy

The Allegheny Conference on Community Development and its Affiliates work together with regional partners to improve the quality of life in the Pittsburgh region and enhance its competitiveness in the global marketplace. To achieve these goals, public policy priorities play an instrumental role in our 2009-2011 Agenda.

In particular, Conference affiliates the Pennsylvania Economy League of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce play important roles in affecting regional, statewide and federal public policy to support economic growth.

The Economy League performs comprehensive, nonpartisan public policy research and analysis on crucial competitiveness issues related to our Agenda. That research spans a range of issues, including benchmarking models of city/county cooperation, quantifying the economic impact of developing the Marcellus Shale and analyzing solutions for an impending municipal pension funding crisis.

The Chamber serves as the advocacy arm of the Conference, working to secure public sector investment and legislative and regulatory improvements.  The Chamber often relies on the Economy League’s research and analysis as it works closely with local, state and federal officials and a range of other partners to champion policies that stimulate economic development and prosperity.

As a member of the Conference Regional Investors Council you can have a direct hand in supporting our 2009-2011 Agenda.  You can also take action today on specific issues of interest to you.
