As of January 2000, all electricity customers in Pennsylvania are able to choose their electric generation supplier.
Specific information on tariffs and rates schedules are no longer as significant as they once were, as generators are more interested in giving their customer the best possible deal. As a result, an individual business must shop around:

First Energy Corporation
- First Energy serves all of Indiana County through its Penelec subsidiary and all of Lawrence County and parts of Allegheny, Beaver and Butler through its Penn Power subsidiary
- First Energy, through its Allegheny Power subsidiary, services all of Armstrong, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Allegheny Power also services parts of Butler and Allegheny counties.
