The Alberta Oil Sands: Filling the Pipeline with Pittsburgh Products, Services and Technologies

A delegation from Alberta, Canada will be in Pittsburgh the week of July 7th to meet with local business representatives to explore opportunities for exports and commercial partnerships related to Alberta’s burgeoning oil sands industry. The oil sands industry presents a huge opportunity for U.S. exporters, since Alberta’s local industry is only able to supply about half of that region’s development needs. Alberta companies need a wide range of goods and services provided by Pittsburgh-area firms, including pressure vessels, industrial furnaces, cooling towers and heat exchangers, instrumentation and control systems, pumps and gas compressors, engines, steel pipe & tube, valves and environmental technologies. The trip is part of an ongoing relationship between the two regions.

On July 8th a business luncheon will be held for companies interested in learning more about the opportunities presented by the oil sands. For more information, please read (PDF file) or contact Ann-Marie Terry at the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, 412-281-4783, ext. 3540.
